Talk about a miracle! All five of us kittens have been helping in the office lately and we saw firsthand how much money it takes to keep our bellies full and all of us so healthy!
With more than 200 kitties in our program it’s no small change to keep everything running.
We look at all the vet bills every day and are very thankful that Safe Haven is taking such good care of us. They work so hard to keep us all healthy and safe. We know it’s because they love us all very much.
“OMG!! We couldn’t believe all the vet bills!!”
Luckily, I know how to work the calculator and added it all up!!! OMG!!!! You gotta be kitten! eh… kidding! We couldn’t believe all that was just for the monthly vet bills!! Then there’s cat food, cat litter, electricity, rent, catnip… Lots of catnip. Okay, just a little catnip — please?
I felt I needed a relaxing drink! A strawberry smoothie sure helped to calm my nerves!
But still I worried…
Our poor volunteers can only do so much. I mean…how many yard sales, bake sales and bottle drives can a team do? The thrift shop team already is working hard… The more I thought about it, the more I felt like I was getting hysterical or something.
So we called a kitten conference and agreed that a good nap was in order. Before we knew it, we were sound asleep in our comfy beds.
But just minutes into our nap we were lifted up into the gentle hands of a very nice woman named Sheila Kelley, VP, Branch Manager from Kennebunk Savings Bank. She and Aunt Joycie (also known as Safe Haven’s President) were smiling really large smiles and holding a piece of paper.
We frankly were so tired of looking at bills all morning that another piece of paper made us feel a little sick! We thought it was another bill, but then we heard it was really good news! The bank was awarding Safe Haven lots of money to help pay our bills!!!!!!!
Then we learned that Kennebunk Savings Bank is not only a very good friend to people, but a huge friend to animals, too! Also, their customers love animals and they helped us get this money by voting for Safe Haven!
Thanks to everyone who voted, we might not have to wait till Santa Claus comes to bring some catnip after all!
