If you love purring balls of fur, you must come to our Maverick Monday and Thursday events.
Under our roof at 1616 Post Rd, every Monday and Thursday from 5-7 pm lots of love is being exchanged between people and cats. It’s quite a magical thing. What’s magical is how strangers arrive at 5 PM and leave at 7 as friends or even new volunteers.
Even more magical is how our kitties are transformed into blissful, happy campers, thanks to all the extra love, attention – oh, and catnip.
These evenings are casual, after-hour gatherings of animal lovers, congregating into groups, focusing their love and attention on kitties who blissfully soak up this extra attention. Refreshments are available as the nights begin.
Safe Haven volunteers drop in as well. They enjoy taking time to relax, sit on the floor, and brush and massage the kitties. Most of our volunteers’ time is spent scooping, feeding and cleaning, but on Maverick nights it’s all fun.
Volunteer Adrianna leads a tour and then each visitor decides where they’d like to hang out. They select the kitty or kitties they want to interact with, grab toys, treats and catnip, and the fun begins. It feels like home to all and the evening is over too soon.
