Michaela performs magic for the kitties!

ANGELS AMONG US!

Many thanks to Michaela Machulis, age 9, who knew our supply of kitty food was low and acted on it. She talked to her principal, Mr. Marquiz,  at Sea Road Elementary School in Kennebunk and before you knew it, a food collection box was put in the lobby at the school and Michaela was on the school intercom telling her classmates about Safe Haven and how we needed food for the kitties!  The 4th and 5th grade students were asked to please fill up the donation box and they not only filled that one up but another one as well! Michaela, who is also a Junior Safe Haven Cat Room Buddy, and her mom, Joyce, delivered the food to Safe Haven. Way to go Michaela! We appreciate you so much and all the kittys and all of us at Safe Haven love you and honor your love and commitment to animals!

NOVEMBER INDOOR YARD SALE/ BOOK SALE Report and Thanks!!

Special thank you to Mark Wilcox and The Weekly Sentinel for the wonderful ad for our Indoor Yard Sale this past weekend and to Bob Blair for the use of his Bo-Mar Auction Barn for this event. A big purrrrrr to our volunteers who got soaked with cold November rain on Thursday during set up and thanks to those who continued set up Friday thru till 3:30 AM to be sure the event was ready to open later that morning. Our break down team really rocked! We actually got out earlier than expected on Sunday afternoon!!! PURRRRRRS to all!!!!

Thanks to everyone who donated items for this event and to those who bargain shopped for treasures. Thanks to all it was a great success and we can pay off more vet bills!!!

MITTENS FOR KITTENS!!

Two of our angels are Bella and Barney who are actually kitties who are very talented artisans and designers. They have sewn up a collection of very stylish and unique mittens crafted out of recycled wool and fleece. These beautiful, stylish, and WARM mittens  are each one of a kind having a unique, antique button as trim.

Bella and Barney once were Safe Haven Kitties and they appreciate Safe Haven’s No-Kill policy and are so happy that we provide a  home like environment to kitties waiting for adoption.  To help Safe Haven save as many kitties as possible, Bella and Barney have a goal of selling 100 mittens priced from $15-$20 a pair, and all the proceeds will benefit Safe Haven’s kitties!

Bella and Barney’s mittens are being sold at Holiday Craft Fairs and events and are also available  at our Thrift Shop at our Adoption Center at 1616 Post Road in Wells.  The next craft Fair where they will be available will be at Bonny Eagle High School in Standish on  Nov 25 & 26th  9-4 Friday , 9-3 Saturday. Come purchase your mittens and show your support to two wonderful and talented kitties and to Safe Haven!

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS ADOPTION CAMPAIGN!

Santa’s sleigh is filling up already with kitties who are going Home for the Holidays! Our goal is 100 kitties adopted by New Years Eve at the strike of 12. So far 10 kitties are already home: Belle, Phoebe, Biscuit, Sampson, Snowbell, Abby, Annie,Forrest, Su Su, and Ben.

Wait..what’s this????  I just saw Santa’s sleigh lift off once again from our Adoption Center rooftop with Little Tammy waving a happy good bye to us as she is going home to her new happy home in Dover NH.

Little Tammy gets a ride on Santa's Sleigh!

And Taz is packing up his catnip mousie and saying good bye. This delightful orange lover boy of a tabby promises to write us all and is now waiting his turn for lift off with Santa next! It won’t be a long sleigh ride as he’s going to a great home nearby in Wells!!  This makes 12 kitties already home for the holidays!

News Flash:

Perhaps before Monday is over, Midnight will be added. An application has just been handed in with Midnight’s name on the top, followed by “Midnight is the kitty I can’t get off my mind!” Hopefully he will be next to find himself on Santa’s sleigh!

Stay tuned to our blog, The Weekly Sentinel and Making it at Home. Come on down to our Adoption Center in Wells and be a part of the fun and love. Call us at 646-1611 for info on any of this news!

If you appreciate our No-Kill work, please consider making a small donation.
