Rabies confirmed in Kennebunk

As if you needed another good reason to keep your cats indoors…

Kennebunk police say they have a confirmed case of rabies in town. A deceased raccoon tested positive after being taken to the Maine Center for Disease Control for testing.

Police remind residents to avoid contact with wildlife and not to attempt to touch or pick up an animal that is sick or injured.

Make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations and that cats are more susceptible to rabies exposure.
