Estate Sale this SaturdayEstate Sale this Sat

This Saturday, Aug. 23,Safe Haven is holding a huge Estate Sale at Johnson’s Antique Museum, Rt. 1, Wells, at the Wells/Kennebunk town line.

This fundraiser, which runs from 8am – 3pm, will help us pay our mounting vet bills, buy food, litter and other necessary supplies.

Safe Haven foster homes are filled to bursting, and still the phone rings daily with calls from people who have kitties they can’t keep, strays or kitties they find abandoned.

We need more foster homes! Will you care for one or two homeless cats or kittens - just until their permanent home can be found?  Click here for info about fostering or call 985-3550.Become a Safe Haven foster volunteer

"Cat-astrophic" art sale ending soon

The display and sale of cat-oriented art called "Cat-astrophic" ends Aug. 22 at Heartwood College of Art, Rt. 1, Kennebunk. A wide variety of fine art and folk art creations, all featuring cats as the subject matter, are for sale, and your purchase helps support Safe Haven's NO KILL mission.

The artist receives 50% of the selling price. Heartwood and Safe Haven split the remainder. It's win-win! Exhibits will remain up  at the college on Rt. 1 only through the 22nd - then they're gone forever. So hurry! Buying a piece of "cat art" for your home or office is another way you can support Safe Haven.

Bursting at the seams

Amber is available for adoption

Safe Haven has grown. We routinely have 100+ felines in foster care. Our unpaid volunteers sacrifice their free time to prevent animals them from being victims of early deaths because the animals have no one to help them. Strays, ferals, pregnant cats with injuries and little kittens are all being cared for and loved by our foster volunteers who give them everything they need to be ready socially for their forever home.

One hundred cats at a time is a big task for a small group that receives no municipal funding. We exist from your tax-deductible donations, and from the money earned by our bake sales, yard sales, bottle drives, our thrift shop and donations from people like you who believe in our No Kill mission.

Miss Princess loves a chin run!

Miss Princess

This 3-year-old DSH tiger has beautiful markings and a mellow personality to match. She'll purr up a storm for a chin rub! She's fine with dogs, other cats and kids. Miss Princess would love to fill your home with love. Spayed and up to date on all shots. More photos on Petfinder or call 651-1803 to learn more about this sweetie.

Mojo

Some cats just wrench your heart. Mojo is one of those. He is desperate for attention, and will actually choose that over food if given the choice. This little domestic shorthair has a heartbreaking story.Mojo needs a special mom or dad

Mojo is 3-5 years old, up-to-date on all his shots and vaccinations. But he tested positive for the feline AIDS virus -- although he shows no signs of the illness.

In foster care he has not been around dogs, so we're not sure how he'll be sharing a household with them. Of course, to make sure the disease doesn't spread, you should only adopt Mojo if you have NO other cats, or your cats have tested also positive for feline AIDS.

This sweet guy needs your love and support. Please call or fill out an online application to meet him and begin the adoption process. More photos on his Petfinder page.

Here's another way to help:

We need regular donations of
  • Canned cat food
  • Kitty litter (scoopable)
  • Gift cards (Stop & Shop, Garden Street, Wal-Mart, pet supply stores, etc.)
  • Gasoline cards for volunteers to transport animals to/from vet.

Also needed: farms for feral cats who resist socialization.

Cash donations are tax deductible because we are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Every penny goes directly to the care and feeding of the animals in our foster care. Thank you!
